Built in 1895, Jesse Hall was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

It was named to to Columbia’s Historic Preservation Commission’s Notable Properties list in 1998, the first of MU’s buildings to be named to this list.

The building was named for University Presidednt Richard S. Jesse, according to the National Register nomination form.
