On Dec. 21, Columbia’s newest historic preservation group will host Bob Yapp, a nationally known historic rehabber via Zoom.
CoMo Preservation’s meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Friends Room of the Columbia Public Library
Yapp has been involved in historic preservation and rehabbing for decades including having his own program About Your House on PBS. Starting in 1996, over four years the program covered a wide range of topics from adaptive reuse to how to find and hire a contractor.
In 2008, he and his wife relocated to Hannibal so he could open a trade school to teach historic renovation skills and so she could open a bed and breakfast. Today, Yapp operates the Belvedere School of Hands-On Preservation and they operate the Belvedere Inn with four guest rooms and the Scoundrel’s Inn with two rooms, both in restored historic buildings.
On Dec. 21 via Zoom, Yapp will give an overview of his company and projects and what share our group can move forward to help property owners restore and maintain their homes. There will be time for questions and answers.
