National speaker at Dec. 21 CoMo Preservation meeting

CoMo Preservation’s meeting at 7 p.m. on Dec. 21 in the Columbia Public Library will feature Bob Yapp speaking to via Zoom.

Yapp has been involved in historic preservation and rehabbing for decades and had his own PBS program, About Your House on PBS. In the four years after it started in 1996, the program covered a wide range of topics from adaptive reuse to how to find and hire a contractor, many of which are now available on YouTube.

In 2008, he and his wife relocated to Hannibal so he could open a trade school to teach historic renovation skills and so she could open a bed and breakfast. Today, Yapp operates the Belvedere School of Hands-On Preservation and they operate the Belvedere Inn with four guest rooms and the Scoundrel’s Inn with two rooms, both in restored historic buildings.

Following his presentation, there will be a question and answer period.
