The Niedermeyer Apartment building was almost lost to demolition. In the fall of 2012, Collegiate Housing Partners announced plans to demolish the building and build a new, high-rise apartment building.
But petitions were gathered and in the spring of 2013, the media announced that Nakhle Asmar, a University of Missouri math professor, had reached an agreement to buy and renovate the 30-apartment, 1837 building.
