A new element coming to CoMoHistoricPlaces

This week, a new kind of information will be showcased on CoMoHistoricPlaces.

The site will feature soon a Spotlight package on Dryer’s Shoe Store with a timeline, photographs, text and a video. These features are a result of a partnership between MU’s School of Journalism class News Content Creation (J4180) and CoMoHistoricPlaces.com

Working in a group, students under professional oversight tackled four different subjects: Dryer’s Shoe Store, Native Americans in Columbia, St. Paul AME Church and David Horner, who turned 100 last year and was inducted into the Boone County Hall of Fame in October 2021.

The work was done under the supervision of Kathy Kiely and Kathryn “Kat” Lucchesi. The students were Maggie Trovato, Abby Stetina, Ashley Arneson, Davis Suppes, Marta Mieze, Erin Martise, Ellie Lin and Amy Schaefer.

These spotlights will also be featured on their own page on the site so you’ll be able to review them any time.

Enjoy the upcoming peek into our history and if you have a topic you’d like to cover or content you’d like featured on CoMoHistoricPlaces.com, drop me a note at dobrien387@gmail.com.
